Presentation #1: Social Psychology Experiments

Overview
For this presentation, you will have 7-8 minutes to summarize and discuss a social psychology experiment.

This will be a partner presentation. You should divide the presentation evenly so that both people speak about the same amount of time.

 Steps
  1. Select an experiment from the list below. If you would like to choose a different experiment, please check with Josh first. There are a list of some of the most famous social psychology experiments at the following website:

    https://explorable.com/social-psychology-experiments

  2. Do research on your experiment. You can find links on the Josh’s website. You can also use Google or Wikipedia to do additional research. If you do not understand part of your experiment, you can ask Josh for help in office hours.

  3. Make key word notes that follow the outline. Remember that you cannot write out full sentences. You may use pictures, the whiteboard, and/or a video no longer than one minute.

  4. Practice with your partner. Remember, you should use key words. Do not memorize a speech.

  5. Present to the class. You will be assessed mostly on:
    1. Fluency = rate, content/support, organization
    2. Communication skills = clear pronunciation, eye contact, gestures, position

Presentation Outline
  1. Start with a hook
  2. Give background: Who, when, where, what, why
  3. Explain the question or concept
  4. Describe the experiment: How it was set up (Control group/Experimental group) What happened?
